We just hit 10,000 followers and we wanted to take a look back on how Fresh Tangerine has grown over the past year! Kim Kogane, Founder and Creative Director of Fresh Tangerine, decided to move her brand to Seattle in January of 2014 from Portland. She acquired the most beautiful, well lit, and spacious studio in the heart of Pioneer Square and began decorating the space.
In June of 2014, she decided it was time to grow her team and hired Skye and I to the team (yay!). Not too long after, Dao, our amazing jewelry maker joined the team. One of the first Instagram projects that we did was for Seattle Pride! We had a blast spray painting pineapples for the street view on Yesler Ave. From here on out, Post Alley became our new spray painting/ DIY / woodworking outdoor workshop.
In July we decided it was time to get the studio space all ready to be a showroom. We had a lot of work to do! There was a lot of Pinterest, Home Depot runs, going back to Home Depot because we forgot something, and good old fashioned hard work. We realized that we didn't have any signage for our Showroom so we got to work on making sandwich boards and a shop sign. Making a sandwich board was surprisingly way more difficult and involved than they look. It's just 2 pieces of wood and some screws, right?
The Fresh Tangerine Studio has many quirks to it, like the fact that we are on a suspended floor in a historic building. If you've ever been to the studio, you may have noticed the exposed piping and anchors holding our floor up. They are very sturdy and we decided, why not add a macrame wall? We ordered one thousand feet of rope, some copper piping and started putting our macrame wall together.
Our first big shoot that we put together was for the Laws of Layering Series. We styled four different looks to show the different ways to stack your rings. That day was filled with glitter, nail polish, Beyonce, and we all had a blast! Below is "The Jetsetter".
It was literally raining glitter that day.
Our showroom finally opened its doors to the public in August 2014. Here is a shot of one of our early display set ups.
Still working hard on growing her handmade jewelry brand, Kim embarked on craft season shows in Chicago and San Francisco. Below is a small snapshot of the Fresh Tangerine booth display in San Francisco.
The same weekend as the craft show, we hosted our very own holiday pop up shop at Fresh Tangerine Studio. We served spiked hot cocoa, delicious treats, and were filled with Christmas cheer! Fremont clothing boutique (and a new stockist), Pipe and Row, brought a selection of pieces. Ampersand as Apostrophe set up a hanging bag display and offered sample sale prices. It was a blast!
Of course, our Holiday card that we sent out to all of the brands, stockists, and bloggers that we collaborated with throughout 2014.
One of our favorite collaborations that we did was to team up with the Merrythought to shoot our Fall 2014 collection. Here is just one photo- check out the link above to see more gorgeous photos of our pieces!
We began to see Fresh Tangerine in the press! We were featured in Seattle Met, Seattle Refined, Grey Magazine blog, and on KOMO news Seattle! Here is one of the "iconic" images of Kim's sister, Kelsey Kogane styling our Fall collection.
More updates to the Showroom with our Necklace and display wall!
Kim and Skye collaborated to do an Instagram takeover with Shop Brika. Below is a photo of Kim and Dao going over the production list.
Our most recent collaboration is one of the most exciting things we've done yet! The lovely gals behind Treasures & Travels teamed up with designer Kim Kogane to create the Oh Honey! Bracelet for their new shop.
While they were doing a studio visit they captured this lovely photo of our team!
Thanks again to everyone who has followed along or recently joined the Fresh Tangerine journey! We hope to continue to grow and keep connecting with all of you!
